Following three records of lo-fi indie rock on Park the Van Records, Philadelphia’s Dr. Dog move up to the big leagues with Shame, Shame, their debut LP for Epitaph imprint Anti- Records. Continuing what they began on 2008’s Fate,Shame, Shame is a more modern-sounding spin on Dr. Dog’s signature 60’s revival sound, augmenting their Beatlesesque hooks with a more punk rock edge. According to guitarist Scott McMicken, the move toward heavier, electric guitar-based songwriting is an attempt to more accurately capture the feel of the bands’ live show. -prefixmag.com
